The Pembroke Welsh Corgi Standard
The low-set Pembroke is a bold but
kindly and active herding dog. It's expression is intelligent, curious and
interested.
The eyes are expressive, medium-sized oval and a dark brown that harmonizes with the coat color.
The foxy, refined head should be well proportioned with erect, firm ears that tapers to a rounded point.
A somewhat tapered muzzle flows to a black nose, tight lips and scissor bite.
Pem coats maybe Red, Sable, Fawn or black and tan, with or without white markings.
The Rib cage is well sprung, moderately long and slightly egg-shaped with deep well-let-down chest.
The Pems front is nearly straight with strong, oval feet, turning neither in nor out.
The thick weather resistant double coat usually has a ruff and pants of longer hair. It often features a sadle-shaped mark on the back.
A long slightly arched neck flows into a firm, level topline.
Ample bone and strong flexible hindquarters with short, parallel hocks give the Pems their agile and free gait.
The Tuck up is only slight, leading to well muscled thighs.
A Pembroke Trademark is its lack of tail, although some Pems are docked with tails of up to two inches in length - carried low.
